I try to avoid a name ending with a sound that is the same or similar to the next name. I think it helps the flow for one name to have a definite ending from the beginning of the next name. Au has many different pronunciations, but I know that most people in our region will pronounce it "aw" or "ah", even if that's not the pronunciation we choose.

We also like to pair one classic or popular name with an uncommon name, and both Gemma and Aurelia are uncommon where we live.

Gemma is on our short list too. Right now I'm leaning most toward Brenna, with Grace and then Gemma close behind. DH doesnt really mind any of them but hasnt said a preference yet, so we'll see.
