Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

All of them have first names that we just picked because we like them and middle names from a family member. ODS has 2 middle names...one is my dad's name, the other is my grandfather's name. MDS has DH's middle name (which is also FIL's middle name, and GFIL's middle name). YDS has my step dad's middle name

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

My son's middle name is after my uncle that passed away in the 60's when he was 2.5 years old. My soon to be daughter's middle name is after my best friend that passed away from cancer a month before I met hubby. The first names are just names we like.

All of my kids have middle names from my side of the family. They have their father's last name and their first names (with the exception of our oldest) are from his Muslim culture with an American twist.

Yes my DD2 has my FIL's middle name as her middle name. Her name is Delaney Cannon. He is a wonderful person and I am honored that she is able to share that with him.

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

DD's middle name is Jolie. My parents' middle names were Jo and Lee, and they inherited those middle names from their parents. So I sort of reintroduced the trend that was broken with me. I thought about doing Jolee, but since "jolie" means "pretty" in French, I thought it would make for a cute double meaning. I later found out that her first name means "pretty" in Italian. Whoops. Oh well, she lives up to it.

We're still undecided on first names for this baby, but we already know the middle name either way. If it's a girl, we're going to use DH's grandmother's maiden name (makes for a cute girl's name). If it's a boy, the middle name will be for his uncle.

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

DD is Grace Ellen, both family names.

DS1 is James Grove, both extensively family names.

DS2 is Seth Flynn, no family name at all. Flynn does mean 'son of the red-haired man' and DH is the only red-head in his family in quite a few generations. But, we chose it because we liked it.

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

DD1 is Lauren Elizabeth Louise

Laurence was my grandfather and is my brother's middle name, my mom and DH's mom's are both Elizabeth Louise's, SIL's middle name is also Elizabeth.

DD2 is Isla Maeve Eleanor

Isla is DH's Great-Aunt, Eleanor is DH's Grandmother. Maeve is the only name I just picked strictly because I loved it

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

Our girls have first names that we chose because we liked them. They both have family names for the middles. For me, the meaning is more important than the actual name; especially since it's their middle names.

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

All of childrens first names were chosen b/c they were names we liked..
My eldest dd's middle name is same as my mothers (thats something I decided growing up knowing I would have children)
My middle daughter, well no meaning b/c we just chose a name we liked
And my son his middle name is my husband's grandfather's name (whom passed and my husband was very close to)
