Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

My oldest son's name is Christian, and my DH is Christopher... which are variations of the same name.

DS2's middle name is Micheal, which is my father's name, and of course my name is Michelle, which is the feminine of Micheal.

DS3 has no "family heritage" in his name.

DD's middle name will be Lynn. Lynn is my mother's middle name as well as my own middle name.

So.. 3 out of 4 have names with "family" meaning.

God bless!

Not for DS. DD's middle name is my MIL's first name. If she'd been a boy her middle name would've been my father's first name.

However, both times we were pregnant, the boy names we liked were British/Scottish/Welsh, which is in line with my heritage, and the girl names were French, which is DH's heritage.

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

No. I really don't like using a name that has any ties to someone I know. Maybe this comes from being named after my Aunt and hating it my whole childhood?

I should add that my Aunt is an awesome person, just hated when my/her name was called or a gift was labeled with our name and you never know who they were referring to.

Yes, all three have family meanings, but DD1 is not obvious and DD2 was not my choice.

DD1- Noella Grace- we planned to call her Nola, DH's family is from New Orleans (called NOLA). Anna means grace, but that was a happy accident.

DS- Ezra Elwood- my grandpa's middle name is Elwood. They have been having silly wars lately, "Me Elwood too!" "Yep, I'm Elwood one." "you Elwood too?" "No, you're Elwood two!" lol.

DD2- Eisley Marie- Marie is MIL, my grandma, and my middle name. We pronounce Eisley with a silent 's' (Eye-lee) and she is named for my BFF whose middle name is Eileen.

ODD has her grandmother's middle name but for the LO we wanted a name that had a special meaning to it, not just connected to another human being, so she doesn't have a family name.

Re: Do your kids' names have family meaning?

My older daughter is named Rebecca anne .. rebecca after her grandmother , my husbands mother. My younger daughter is Charlotte Amelia.. we called her charlie and her name was our way to honor my father in law charles. We also always go with an 'A' for the middle name seeing as how my husband is Stephen Andrew.
