placenta encapsulation
For those of you who did placenta encapsulation, what size capsules did you have? Where did you get the kit from? Any advice is welcome! DH will be doing the encapsulation for me.

Re: placenta encapsulation
I use 00 unless a client specifically asks for 0. I never bought a kit. I use a dehydrator, coffee grinder, gloves (but if it's your own you don't need to, just wash your hands well before doing it) and a single use scaple, but you can use a sharp knife.

Re: placenta encapsulation
My sister encapsulated mine last month. I bought this kit http://shop.placentabenefits.info/products.asp?cat=11
It was super easy! I will say that I did not have enough capsules...I still have some placenta left, so I need to get more capsules. It comes with 150. I'm having a great post-partum period...so happy I made the effort to encapsulate. Good luck

Re: placenta encapsulation
We already have a dehydrator and will be getting a cheapo coffee grinder. I guess by kit I really just mean a means to get the dehydrated, ground up placenta into the capsules (without getting it everywhere??). I've seen those capsule machines. Is that all I need in the right capsule size (00)? Is the capsule machine worth it? We're saving a couple hundred by doing it ourselves, so I'm ok spending the $30 on supplies. Just want to make sure I get the right stuff.
![]() I have found this website with the tutorial on how to do it. Does this seem about right? http://www.cafemom.com/journals/read...ons_w_Pictures Thanks for your help!!

Re: placenta encapsulation
We used the same tutorial. My sister steamed it first in a strainer, which she threw away because she didn't think she could get it clean? I was in the hospital, but my husband said the capsul machine was super easy to use and took minutes to do all 150. I can only imagine having to do it manually. Seems like a major PITB. I think the kit is def worth the money

Re: placenta encapsulation
One last question. The site I'm ordering from (same site I have to order my birth kit from) sells their capsules in multiples of 100. If 150 wasn't enough for you, how many would you recommend? 200? 300?

My MW made 134 capsules from mine. Better to buy too many empty capsules than not enough, right?

Re: placenta encapsulation
150 was not enough, but I think 200 would have been perfect
