Clothesline help please
I need help. I really want to put up a clothesline outside, but I can't picture how to. I have a car port area that has straight poles that I would like string the wire between the poles. I'm having trouble figuring out how to do that. They don't have holes in them and if I just wrap the wire around, won't it just slide down the pole when I add wet clothes? My yard is small and it has a tree on one side and a shed on the other. I was also thinking about putting it between one pole and the tree or the tree and the fence. I am not able to set a new pole in the yard. I have to use things that are already there. Please help me. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Re: Clothesline help please
You might consider a retractable one. You could screw a big eye hook in to the post/shed/tree to hang the line on.

Re: Clothesline help please
When we lived in apartments, we did lines between poles. It wasn't that far of a distance though, like 5 or 6 feet apart. Just wind the pole a few times and knot several times to make it secure. Or how about buying one of those umbrella drying racks? You can just stake it into the ground somewhere. Or you could even do several drying racks outdoors.

Re: Clothesline help please
you could do a pulley system on your tree or on one of the poles. we have a pulley system from our 2 story deck to a large tree in the backyard. i stand on the deck and hang my clothes then shimmy them out over the yard. works great and keeps kids and other stuff from getting into the clean hanging clothing!

Re: Clothesline help please
a picture of your yard would help. My worry about running between your carport poles is that the roof would shade them too much.

Re: Clothesline help please
Yep, we have 2 pulley systems from one pole in our yard to our house. Our yard isn't that big but that's more than enough for 2 full King sized loads. Would that be an option for you? There are tools you can use to drill the poles and secure the pulleys.

Re: Clothesline help please
I wish I had a pulley system! My clothesline line is 2 "T" shaped poles with eye hooks used to hold the line in place.

hook these into the support beams of the roof then thread your line through them. Id find ones with a longer bolt part to leave room for your hands and the pins heres an example I used when hanging mine below. I used the eye screw tied my line to it then ran it through the others to keep it from sagging down. I also have that flat bent thing that screws in to tie it off but I broke it and now I have 2 nails that I wrap the end of the line around in a figure 8 works better and cheaper. Here in hawaii everybody has a clothes line(most dont use dryers at all) and carports so its 1 million percent possible. Id run 5 or 6 lines the long length of the carport and use pins to hang. http://www.enviromom.com/2008/07/creative-and-ch.html I also have a $20 rack amazon vulcano drying rack that I use for socks undies and small items
