Yup, I'd do things the same all over again.

I really like my son's name: Cian Edward

I can imagine that as a teenager his friends will shorten his name to one syllable (sounds like Key). IMO that would be a pretty cool nickname for a teenage boy.

Hopefully he won't mind pronouncing and spelling his name all the time. Or maybe we should just move to Ireland where it is a top 10 name.

Re: If you could name your kids again, would you name them the same?

I have 5 going on 6 kids. One of them has an "odd" name compared to our others. I mean, it isn't odd at all, it just really doesn't fit with the other names. It's interesting because I choose that name when I was 12 or 13 for a boy. It took a little convincing so, he's my second boy. All our other names are more traditional. I also had NO idea that it is a gender neutral name. Personally, I would never name my daughter this name and it never occurred to me that others might. So, while the name is somewhat special to me because I choose it as a child, I think if I had it to do over, I would probably go with something more like our other kids names and definitely not a gender neutral name because I'm not very fond of those. (We also used a name I picked around the same age for his twin sister's name, but I didn't plan to use both childhood names on twins. I didn't even realize it till a few weeks ago. They are 4. ) I find it cool that starting in my pre-teens, probably earlier for the girl name, I said I would have a girl and boy and I would name them X and X (not planning twins though) and I actually did it. I didn't use the middles though because we decided to go with all family names for middle names. Oh, which brings me to my next point...the same child is named after my FIL for his middle. I think I would change that. Unfortunately, my IL's have made it clear that they don't really like this child. (Sad, I know. My husband and I talk a lot about it and what we will do if/when it ever becomes a real issue....which is cut them off. ) They try not to show it and they try to treat them all equal, but we know. Plus, we just don't respect my FIL like we wish we did. So, I'd pick a different family member to name him after.

I'm not sure. My son is definitely an Isaac. I had his name picked out early on and never really questioned it. My daughter though, I'm still not sure if Evelyn fits her. We'll see, maybe she'll grow into it. It took us a long time to decide on a name after she was born. She has a lot of nicknames we call her now too.
