Is it normal to be a worried new hen-mother?

We bought 6 ladies yesterday and I'm a wreck! I've been out to the coop 9 times today already, taken them an ice block to hopefully cool them a little. Will they flop over dead from the heat? EEK! It's 89 here and they're predicting 95's for the rest of the week. The coop/run both are tin roofed and hardware clothed all around for ventilation.

Calm me down - I have three dominique and three easter eggers - all 18 week hens. any other ideas to keep them cool??

I'm sure they're fine. My hens have survived some pretty extreme temps here in Texas. Last summer was really brutal and they never acted like it really bothered them. They do like to dig in the dirt and lay there, in the shade. As long as they have water and shade, you're good!

I don't get worried until the temps are over 100. The we put out frozen water bottles and buckets and if it's real bad I spray down the run with the hose. Frozen fruits are a nice treat. They should be fine
