Leaking help!
Does every nursing mama leak like crazy? I didn't nurse long with DD1, but this time it seems like all I have to do is think about feeding DD2, and I'll get that lovely tingly letdown feeling and leak right through the pad I'm wearing. I know those mamas with low supply would love to have this problem, but holy mama do I leak a lot! I'm getting an ounce to an ounce and a half off the non nursing breast when I use my milkies, which is great for building a supply for emergencies, but it also means that I'm blowing right through every set of reusable nursing pad I've tried. The disposable ones are holding it for the most part, but I don't like using them for the same reason I'm into cloth diapers and mama cloth - cost and the environment.
now I seem to recall some nursing mamas on here mentioning in passing that they only leak in the beginning? Is that typical? Can I expect that as time goes on I will probably leak at least less if not at all? If not, can anyone recommend a cloth nursing pad for a "heavy leaker"? I'm very tempted to get a hold of the mama who makes the mama cloth I wear and see if she is interested in making me some nursing pads.

I leaked until DS started eating solids regularly. So maybe 9 months?
Eta: yeah - unfortunately no cloth worked for me. I use mama cloth, CDs, unpaper towels, and HATE disposable stuff, but I finally caved and started using Lansinoh disposable breast pads and almost cried from relief when I felt dry for the first time in months.

I leaked the entire time with dd it was bad. No reusable pad would hold it all in
. I ended up doing the "pushing" method everytime I felt the letdown tingle. Push on my boobs to make them stop. **I do know how to spell...my iPod on the other hand does not**

Re: Leaking help!
I have leaked until 1 year with each of my babies. I only stopped wearing nursing pads after I became pregnant!
That said, it does get better. At first i would leak through 3-4 Nuk disposable pads (stacked together). Eventually I only needed one and only had to change once or twice a day, rather than after/between every feed. Definitely going to invest in milkies this time!

I only leaked badly for the first month with DD , it tapered down tons after that and stopped by the time she was 2 months old. I think it took a little longer with DS, but I was leak free by 3 months. There's hope!

Re: Leaking help!
I just noticed today that I couldn't remember the last time I leaked...and then I started leaking lol. So I guess it comes and goes for me, but definitely depends on fullness. DD is 14 months. I did leak a lot more in the beginning and still leaked a lot around 10 months or so. I just applied very light pressure to the leaking side and it stopped (until the next letdown).

I leaked a lot for the first five months. The only pads that worked in the very beginning were the Lansinoh disposables. Now I can get away with nothing during the day, and Pampered Mama reusable pads at night. I highly recommend both brands.

Re: Leaking help!
i was the same way. lo is one month and i still leak but but not as much. cloth sucked in the beggining for me. i found that using super maxi pads cut in half from the dollar tree really help. they are in a pink package. they dont have the plastic backing of normal pads the ladies can breath then put a cloth over that. applying pressure helps too

Re: Leaking help!
Some do, some don't. I did with dd1 until after she weaned (10mos) and dd2 I think I leaked for a good 5mos. Washable pads were useless for me. Lansinoh were my favourite but holy expensive. Johnson & Johnson's were cheaper but kind of showed through clothes so I used those at night and at home.
