I've got a reader on my hands!

I took my 4 year old DD to the library today and let her pick out a bunch of books. She has been learning to read, so I thought a bunch of new books would be fun and encourage her to read more. I guess it worked. You see, I walked into her room to get something (it was past her bed time and she should have been sleeping) and she was sitting on top of a dresser by the window! Before I could even ask her what she was doing, she says, "I need to see the words better!" I'm so proud of her, but I can see her sneaking flashlights into her room very soon! Brings back memories of my childhood!

Both my girls have loved to have books in their beds starting around 2.5. Once they learned to read I got them lamps. They will read up to 2hrs before going to sleep at night. I love peeking in on them and seeing their nose glued to a book

DD1 loves her book. It's the only thing I can take away from her when she is in trouble that she would die over. But I always feel guilty do it often. That has become a major offense punishment.

This is DD2 at 17m. I took tho pic yesterday. I couldn't even get a kiss from her.

I caught her sitting in her special spot the other day reading her book.... Well trying. It was cute she had this very serious look on her face. I think she was trying to figure out the words.

My whole family is readers. We love books and all have a kindle so I don't have to find room for books

Re: I've got a reader on my hands!

Me too! I'm so so excited about it. We got a bunch of early readers from the library this week and after only a couple days he is reading them himself. The early proficiency is great but what I am most pleased about is how much he loves it. I am an avid reader myself and I love it is something we can share.

My big one is like that too! She is just about 6 and taught herself to read last month! It was amazing! She just picked up a book and started reading! Now I find her hiding in my bedroom lounging on my bed with a stack of books, I love it! It reminds me of myself.
