Re: At what age did your child stop wearing a bib?

Dd1 - our rule follower - didn't question it until after 2 sometime. Even at 3 if we were eating something messy like spaghetti she'd wear one, but not every meal.

Dd2 - started refusing to wear a bib right around 2.

Ds hated bibs. By shortly after 1 he'd scream and pitch a fit if we tried to put one on. He could undo most any bib we tried to put on him. So we just dealt with the mess and invested in a good stain remover.

DD wore bibs for eating, consistently, until about 14 mos. Since then she rips off any bib with velcro (have snap converted many and it frustrates her!) and frequently requests bib-removal mid-meal. I think she has figured out that DH and I don't wear bibs, lol. Funny thing is, she still tries to put a bib ON as an "I'm hungry" signal.
I generally just take her shirt off

She's 21 months and I couldn't tell you the last time she wore a bib, I can probably count on fingers and toes how many times shes worn one her whole life.... We just didn't really use them.

Mine where them for almost every meal. In general, my 5 wear them for most meals until around 3 years and then as needed based on the meal or the clothing.

Some kids are messier than others and some parents are more concerned with the mess than others too. So, it's a personal preference, IMHO.

Re: At what age did your child stop wearing a bib?

I really don't remember with my older two. My youngest is 18 months and I can only remember one time that I put a bib on her, and that was to protect her baptismal gown from a potential reflux disaster. If it's a messy meal, I strip her and she eats in her diaper.

We dont really start using bibs until they are feeding themselves messy foods so about 10 months and then until they can eat yogurt and such without a mess so about 4

A year old, sometimes I think about bringing them back though!
