Unless you can stop the car, get him out, get his pants down in 30 sec( his time frame from telling to going), I would do pull ups.

Re: Pullups or undies (newly PL'd on a road trip)

I would use pullups but treat him like he is in undies. We do road trips about once a year and they typically are 2 days there 2 days back driving wise. Have him try to go at every stop and ask often. There is a chance he won't have a bm in the car since he won't be up and moving around so his bowels will be slower. BUT having a poopy accident in the car would be so yucky and stressful for you. We like to keep stressful vibes away as much as we can on road trips, the kids pick right up on it otherwise and things go downhill quick

BTW - yay for your DD! When we started PL'ing with DS2 we just went straight to undies 100%. Frequent accidents at first, but he got it very quickly and I'm glad I didn't mess with Pullups for night/naps/town/etc.
My parents live 40 mins up the road from us and that was my test lol The first week we were PL was when she had her accident on the way home from their house. I would definately do panties/undies from here on out.

Re: Pullups or undies (newly PL'd on a road trip)

I was going to say pull up or diaper, but undies with plastic pants over is a good idea too. If he's never worn a pull up before, you could just put it on him and not say anything, and unless he had an accident, he'd never know they weren't just some weird new underwear you got.

pull up for sure. I loathe taking apart car seats to wash covers.

Definitely pull ups. Youre not always going to be in a position where you can pull over immediately. If he does get pee on his caraway, even if you are somewhere that you can clean it, he'd still have to get back in the car in a wet seat. My dd has just started going through the day with no accidents, but she will still wear diapers/pull ups in the car for our vacation in sept. If rather deal with her going backwards a little , than a peed carseat on the side of the road.
