Am I being crazy?

Dd1 (22mo) has had a dry cough for almost a month. It's not severe, she probably coughs 2-3 times a day for like 5-10 seconds. But I have a 4 week old also, and every time dd1 coughs I get so panicy thinking that it's something dangerous for dd2 (like pertussis). We took dd1 into the dr 2 weeks ago and he suspected allergies or possibly asthma but wasn't concerned at all about pertussis. 2 weeks later dd1 still has the cough and it's giving me so much anxiety I just can't take it anymore. I just called the pedi and asked for the nurse to call me. I'm going to ask the nurse if I can get her in to test for pertussis. Now I'm super nervous about that because I feel like I'm just being a crazy worrying mom.
Can someone just tell me I'm not crazy? Or that I am and I shouldn't be worried about pertussis?

Re: Am I being crazy?

mama! No you are not crazy. I had to deal with pertussis with my lo last year when she was 2 months old. We almost lost her. Don't worry about what others think, if you want the test done then get it done. My lo didn't have the typical cough. She hardly coughed at all, but would stop breathing and turn blue 10 times a day.
It is a reality that pertussis is rampant atm. You are just trying to keep your kids safe!
