Whats wrong with my cast iron skillet...or rather, whats wrong with me?

i cook my eggs in cast iron. it's all I have. we can do fried, over easy, scrambled, etc. no stick issues.

If you can't make eggs... Then your pan must not be properly seasoned and you aren't using it at the right temp.

I drop a few drops of oil on mine, spread it out, then drop eggs in. Fabo!

They sell egg sized cast iron pans so Lodge disagrees with this. They are sold at Sportsmans warehouse and are the cutest things. I want some but I would be cooking eggs all day unless I got at least 6.

ETA: http://www.lodgemfg.com/use-care-seasoned-cast-iron.asp is very specific on care. It is how we did ours and we only use cast iron and we have a lot of it.

I use the Alton brown lazy method of cleaning my cast iron skillet: after using (while still hot) pour about 2-3 Tbsp salt in the pan and scrub the salt around with a paper towel or clean rag to get everything off. Then I rub the dirty salt out and into the trash can or sink. That's it--the skillet keeps it's seasoning because it never sees a drop of water.

If it gets particularly nasty or I couldn't clean it right away, then I sometimes need to use soap and water, dry, steam off the water and reseason. I like the lazy way best though.

Alton Brown is obviously a genius and I obviously need to watch more tv. This is awesome. Does he say any salt is better than another? We use kosher sea salt personally but I wonder if it wouldn't work as well as some of the finer grit? Or maybe better cause it isn't finer grit? Or maybe it doesn't matter?
