Re: S/O If you do leggings, what age?

Always. For now. No idea when I would stop making them.

And if not leggings, then a diaper cover/bloomers or a pair of biker shorts. I just upcycled 4 pairs of leggings that DD destroyed the knees into shorts. She wears dresses every single day (not tunic tops).

I put leggings on dd and have since she could walk more or less. I did put the little diaper cover with baby legs, but even that seemed odd to me.

I think I'm a fairly modest person, I'd like dd to take that example.

Re: S/O If you do leggings, what age?

Ok, I think I am one of the odd ones in this thread!
DD is two and a half, and I only put bloomers or leggings on her if the dress/skirt is a short one. We do leggings with t-shirts, too. As hot as it is here during the summer (like right now - UG!) I use as few layers as we can get away with and still be modest. Of course, she has DS as an example, and, ya know...he's a 4yo boy. They both do fine when we're out, but at home, I'm lucky if he keeps his shorts on for more than 20min at a time.
If DD ended up at a private school and having to wear a skirt/jumper 5 days a week like I did, then yes, we would totally have a ba-zillion leggings & bike shorts for her to choose from each day.
When she finishes PL and is wearing real undies all the time, I will probably start putting them on under her dresses more often.

DD is 18 months and I don't bother with anything yet since she's in diapers. I was just thinking I need to find cheap shorts for ME though, since all I wear is dresses and wind freaks me out. Lol. I expect that I'll get/make a bunch of shorts when she's potty trained.

Re: S/O If you do leggings, what age?

I've never thought about this...and my DD has never worn anything under a dress. I also cannot think of a single dress we've gotten that came with bloomers except one that was 0-3M size. She does have one dress that came w/a onesie so that does cover her diaper. I've never been concerned with it. But I did notice one time that she can't really play at the park with a dress on because she burns her legs. So, I could put her in some leggings for that, but really I've just made a point for her to be in shorts when we go to the park.

We only do it on skirts or dresses that are "too short" don't ask me exactly what that means but its usually around an inch over the knee. And we started when dd started flashing panties while playing- since she had physical delays that wasn't until about 3. If its at the knee or below we don't usually wear shorts or leggings unless we know something is going on that might cause flashing.

I never put DD in leggings under her dresses until she was in panties. Why buy all those cute diapers if you can't show them off. She will always wear something under her dress now. She is a monkey bars addict. I see other little girls at the preschool, on the monkey bars giving the world a panty peep show and it totally creeps me out. I don't think of myself as particularly modest but I don't think little girls should be showing off their panties.

We started putting leggings, shorts, or tights (the really thick ones) under dresses when DD PL'd, which was about the same time she grew out of the ones that came with bloomers. DD is so used to it now that when she got her first ever nightgown this summer she insisted on wearing something under it. She's a combo of a very girly girl and a total tomboy, so if she didn't have something under she'd be flashing panties all the time.

just wanted to add, that while I put her in leggings most every day now, I probably will not be putting her in them when she's newly potty trained. She will have to get really good at telling me and even at pulling her own pants down before I'll go back to leggings.

dresses with undies for awhile at that point. I don't see why you'd wait until they're potty trained to introduce a new layer for them. Until they were really really good at it, anyways
