Made my own wrap.. And now cant get the hang of it.
I went to joann fabrics about a week ago and bought some osnaburg fabric to make a wrap. I made it fairly long (not sure the exact length) and cut it and hemmed it appropriately.
I've tried two different carries - rucksack and another that I don't recall the name of ![]() I can't get comfortable in either of those.. And when I did a rucksack I got abrasions on my shoulders from my dd being in it for 15 minutes. I want to love wrapping, please help me! Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

I really want to love it but right now it just frustrates me.

Practice in front of the mirror. Watch a few youTube videos.

Oh, and do it when the baby is already calm. Eventually he will calm down as soon as you start to put him in it.

YouTube is the way to go! When i first heard about mobys, my 3yr old was 11 months old and loved his independence. Instead of spending $45 , I went and bought a long piece of jersey fabric and wrapped it like a Moby. I was able to cut it long ways and make two. When i had my new baby(10wks) I had to have a real Moby. Its so thick and hot compared to my homemade one. I use my homemade one daily and I'm saving the real one for winter....or Craigslist

Re: Made my own wrap.. And now cant get the hang of it.
Its very likely you need to break in the osnaburg. Woven wraps behave differently then stretchy wraps so they are not always ready to go right out of the gate. To break my wraps in I wash and dry it several times with a good heavy steam ironing in between and then tie and retie it to get it to loosen up even more. A good woven wrap will eventually get buttery soft and floppy with time and use and be very enjoyable to wear, but I non-broken in wrap that is stiff and hard will always cause pressure points and the abrasions you mentioned.
I personally was never able to get gauze wraps to break in enough for me to wear without pressure points, so I switched to silk/cotton blend ones for the lightweight airy feel but the easy to wear from the get go feeling.
