Question Goopy eye???

Anyone dealt with this? They told us there is nothing to do for it but warm wash cloth to loosen it up and clean his eye and if by a year it's not fixed (plugged tear duct they say) then they may do something, but he looks so pitiful, look, it gets irritated

So is there anything else I can do for it? Or just what we are doing?

Oh and I tried the breastmilk thing lol

I dealt w/this w/my baby off and on a while & the cure? Breastmilk - I just put a little in his eye like you would eyedrops and it cleared up! But I had to do it for a few days.

Re: Goopy eye???

My ds had a clogged tear duct, too, and I put breast milk in as much as possible, constantly, and especially when it teared, and it was gone in 2 days. I'd try doing it more unless it is clearly causing irritation.
Also, take spirulina or lots of carrots, which have lots of vitamin A, which the eyes need to stay healthy. Reoccurring eye problems can be from Vitamin A defeciency. When I had reoccuring conjunctivitis (pink eye), breastmilk didn't work for me, but then I tried putting my morning pee in, and it went away and never returned. Sounds gross, but I swear it worked the best.

I hope it heals fast!

I didn't know breastmilk would work on a blocked duct... I've used it for eye infections and it works great! Kieran had small tear ducts and had goopy eyes for his entire first year - once he turned one, it cleared up. Just in time to avoid having to do something about it.

Re: Goopy eye???

DD was born with a clogged tear duct. We would put breastmilk in it at about every feeding. But make sure its at the start and not after he's already been on the breast, in case he has thrush. The breastmilk cleared it up in a few weeks, and she had a severe case!
