Someone remind me about FAM and breastfeeding rules

I had the book, but I loaned it to someone and never got it back Micah is 3 months old and I'm starting to worry because he doesn't nurse a lot at night. Can someone remind me what the rules are for using FAM while breastfeeding? We do follow all of the rules for ecological breastfeeding, and with my daughter I didn't get my period back until she was 12 months old, but this little guy only wakes up twice a night the most, as far as I know (but I am a really deep sleeper, so it's possible that it's more). I also am just healthier this time, and I feel like that might make fertility come back sooner.

This time the pressure is on because my husband is adamantly against having more children right now. Our relationship is strong right now, and I don't want to do anything to strain it. Also I really want to nurse this baby for 2 years; I didn't make it quite that long with my daughter because I got pregnant when she was 16 months old, and nursing became torture around 6 months in. So the stakes are high, but I SUCK at FAM. Both of my babies are TTA failures.

My midwife said anything where they baby goes at least 4 hours in between feedings can cause you fertility to come back. Jonah is definitely doing that that night. He may get up once or twice (which Im not complaining about, I love to sleep! esp since Im back working) I've definitely noticed ewcm, and had a really short what I think was a period that happened at the 12 week pp mark. I'm going to see what happens in 4 weeks. But part of me is terrified Im going to have a tta failure while waiting for my cycles to regulate. Otherwise we just do nfp for birth control.

I totally feel where you are coming from! I'm thinking about getting some opks and doing that for a month to see if im actually o'ing or not.

Yes I am really getting worried because he's such a good sleeper, to the point where when people ask me if he's sleeping through the night I just get irritated...I'm feeling a bit crampy this morning and I'm really worried that I'm ov.ulating.. I would honestly be devastated to get pregnant again this soon. I just need to be straightforward with my husband and tell him that we have to use barrier methods again, but that won't stop me worrying for the next 2 weeks.

I am a little nervous also, just because i had what i think was my period so we stopped barrier methods. And Im just really worried that my cycles are going to be wacky and we are going to end up pregnant again. I wouldn't freak out if it happend but we are def not ready for another one. So I think until my cycles even out we are going to use barrier methods.

And I HATE the sleeping through the night question...they are babies, they are supposed to wake up.

I am so glad I am not the only one getting worried--I mean I want another but not this soon my LO is 4 mths. I also hate sleeping through the night questions because they act like he should be sleeping all night. He is an excellent sleeper and has slept for 4 hour stretches (atleast) from day 1.
What do you try besides barrier -- we really stink at that

I chart and still get worried! my babe is 9 months and I still haven't got my first period...Babe goes like 5 hours at night between feeds. I just hope that I'll be able to tell when I'm fertile!

I am not familiar w/FAM rules but the ecological BFeed is stricter: yet it just says to nurse at night + co-sleep. It says to not sleep-train + get them to sleep at night. The frequency in the day is critical, too: the minimum being more than 8 feeds in a 24 hour period. See Sheila Kippley's: "The Seven Standards of Eco-logical Breastfeding" - a small book; I read it in 2 days. Be checking for mucus presence + if so, add temps + abstain for most effectiveness. That worked for us over 20 years. I did not know FAM specified sleep specifics - what is their book?

we follow eco breastfeeding rules, but from what I understand baby should really still be nursing every 4 hours or so. I'm not sure that he does that. I didn't know if there was something I was forgetting!
