Name that plant!

So I have a few volunteer plants in the compost pile, lol! Needless to say I haven't been so good at turning it . Can you help me ID them?

Re: Name that plant!

They both look like pumpkins to me. A fairy type and either a big max type (more soft rind-ed and squash like) or a white pumpkin. What did you have for halloween last year?

No pumpkins that I recall. I was thinking the really ribbed dark one is acorn but DH disagrees. I think the other poos like a sugarbaby watermelon watermelon but it's in a squash plant! I dunno! Most of the group is butternut and they are easy to pick out but these two have got me stumped!

Re: Name that plant!

What I meant was, if you didn't plant your own pumpkins, did you buy some? Did the remains wind up in the compost bin? I'd still bet money on those being some form of pumpkin. LOL I tried to grow spaghetti winter squash last year (didn't like our heat) and the vine didn't look like that.

Nope no pumpkins consumed, not even jackolanterns! I'm stumped .

Re: Name that plant!

Gardens are a mystery sometimes. Could be that a bird decided to dig in your bin and left an offering there, or a rat or squirrel nested there and brought his stolen loot with him. Should be interesting! I should take a pic of my mystery plant.
