If for any reason it doesn't, get an Aviva Accucheck, then go to the Novo Nordisk website and sign up for their prescription discount card that makes no test strip prescription more than $15.

Thanks. I'm hoping just changing my diet will help. I got a hold of a nutritionist who is able to get me in on Tuesday. Marsha (nutritionist) told Ellie (her scheduler) that I was a priority and needed to get in ASAP next week.

So at least I'm working with someone who realizes the importance of getting this taken care of. She also said that insurance told HER that I have a $50 co-pay, *I* was told there was NO co-pay... so instead of having me pay the co-pay up front when I go in, they will wait until after they bill the insurance company, and just bill me for the co-pay if it turns out that I need to pay it.

So it sounds like I'm with someone who really cares about her patients.

oh, and I love that she works out of her home.

So...that's where we are at now. Still waiting to hear back from my midwife on the prescription for the glucose meter.

Update: I called my Medicaid provider today. The woman told me that they WILL cover the glucose meter, test strips AND lancets up to $1,000.

When I asked about brand, she said that my Midwife will just have to look it up to see which one to prescribe me, or write the prescription in a generic format and let the pharmacist look it up.

I'm so relieved.

So.. I should have my stuff no later than Thursday. My Midwife only has office hours on Thursdays, and she said that the pharmacies need a physical prescription for this and won't accept a call in.

I have my appointment with the nutritionist tomorrow. Starting to feel better about things.
