Help me feel the side snap love

Our current stash is made up of aplix and front-snapping diapers. In my quest to use more natural fiber diapers, I am finding a lot of options that are only available in side snap. Having never used this style before, it seems intimidating. Of course, I could just buy one and try it out. But I thought I'd see what you all had to say. What do you think? Pros? Cons?

Sorry, I have to vote "no" for side snaps. I tried the Grovia AIO, and although I loved the cute, trim fit on DS I just didn't like the side snaps. They just didn't seem easy to snap on him. Oh, and he needed the tabs pulled quite tight (he is a slim guy), so I had to make sure they were tucked under the inserts, and then the tabs would still get wet. He didn't have leaks, tho.
I prefer the Grovia AI2 and BG Elementals.

Go check out pictures of babies in Peachy Green, Swaddlebee Simplex or Rainshine Designs. Love the flat front look!

There's no wing drop in side snaps, which is a major advantage. If you don't have problems with this though it's not such a big deal. They are slightly more difficult to get on but they fit much better

I hate side snaps. The belly line is much less forgiving on baby buddha bellies. I have side sleepers - snaps in bony hips just doesnt seem right, not to mention the risk for leaks.

I wish I liked them. I have 8 sm OBB marathons sitting here sad and unused - wish I had found them in aplix.

Ok, you guys have hit on the issues I was seeing in my future ... hard to get on a wriggly toddler, snaps digging into hips on a side sleeper, etc. I really was hoping to try out a Swaddlebees Simplex or Bottombumpers snap closure, but I'll just stick to the tried and tested. Thanks!

(But I do like that smooth flat front look!)

Re: Help me feel the side snap love

Side- snapping diapers are my favorite. We always got the best fit with them. DS had a small waist and large thighs, so we always snapped the legs looser than the thighs. Some side-snapping diapers have some elastic in the front, but others do not. I think diapers with elastic in the front fit better on babies with chubby bellies. However, I did not use side-snapping diapers overnight when DS was a side-sleeper.

I LOVE side snapping diapers. I guess I've always had slimmer babies and struggled with the 'wing droop' with anythig front snaps where the front panel starts to come out the leg holes. I don't find them any harder to get on and they stay in place sooo much better.

See, Ive had skinny minnies too and I just feel like it hinders their comfort when learning to sit, grab feet etc. Im sure they dont mind but I just cant handle it...just in case lol.

I always preferred sidesnap with DD. she has a tiny waist and would always get wing droop with the front closures. I think sidesnap are trimmer too. My favorite are Green Acre Designs.
I ay change my mind once my boys arrive because they could be shaped totally differently. We'll see.
