This seems insane! Okay, does the baby come out and they just leave him laying there? Do they clean the baby and wrap him up? How does this work?

Im picturing a brand new baby ripped from the nice dark snug warm womb where the sound of moms heart/voice and movements all comforted him only to be placed all alone in a cold, loud huge bright space full of strange noises. That is not the first experience Id want my baby to have.

Thankfully I have never heard of such things. I cannot begin to imagine what the thought process is behind that! As others have said I want my baby in arms the second it's born!

Never heard of it and it sounds weird to me. Though not any weirder than the breast crawl thing, and I know some people thing that's awesome. No thanks, I'd rather just grab up my sticky new baby and snuggle.

the only thing I can think of is what someone else suggested- that it is for the breast crawl? We did that with my 5th, but we didn't not touch him.

I'm not sure of the details of delivery. It doesn't make sense to me either, but I wasn't sure if I was missing a trend of some sort.
