Re: What age do you stop putting the kids to bed?

I still put mine to bed for the most part. Hugs, kisses and tucking in. Theyre 8 and 4. The only time I dont is if I'm feeding the baby, but I'll go in after that and give them kisses even if they're sleeping already.

I will do it until they stop asking, or tell me to stop.

Re: What age do you stop putting the kids to bed?

I plan on reading to and putting my kids to bed for a loooooong time! I think it's important that kids (even older kids who can read on their own) be read to very often. It's good for bonding, and a great change of pace from reading to themselves. I love our bedtime routine and would never want to give it up

DH and I plan to do it for a long time. Right now we "tag-team" since I'm nursing the baby to sleep. He does the bathtime, teeth, prayers, and stories with the older girls (5 and 2.5yo) and I just come in and give hugs and kisses. I hope to always at least say good night and give loves until they no longer live with us.

I think I will try and tuck them in and pray with them for as long as they'll let me, lol. The quality time at night while tucking them in is too precious for me to give up too early.

LOL. This made me laugh because I have this memory... I was around 24-25, had just moved home after living out of the country and getting my masters degree (and looking for a job) and the third day home my parents came into my room, sat down on the side of my bed, said goodnight, gave me a kiss and a hug, etc. talk about awkward! But after they left, I just had to smile and say to myself, "you must be growing up, they needed that even if you didn't."

Our oldest is 5 and we still do it. I guess we'll stop when they ask us to stop. I see no reason to stop otherwise.

I tuck my kids in, say a prayer and give them a kiss. I spend abut 2 minutes with each of them. We read stories during the day. I don't want them to expect a story every night. We used to, but it would take an hour to get everyone to bed. They are 9, 5 and 3.

Re: What age do you stop putting the kids to bed?

DH and I divide and conquer We each put one of the girls to bed each night. We read stories and talk before tucking in. I was thinking that once YDD got "old enough" that we would read stories with both girls together... but their taste in reading is so different that I doubt that will ever actually happen.

I do enjoy vegging on the couch after they are sleeping. But I can't imagine not tucking them in first. I imagine we'll be doing it until they make us stop.

Never. When I go home to visit, my Mom still comes up to say goodnight , "tuck me in", and that is when we have our best conversations. My Dad will come in to give me a goodnight kiss too! I cherish that special time with my parents and I want our children to have those same memories.
