What do you find offensive
I see post after post of people saying how it's ok to bash one religion over another. But I don't see what they are talking about and maybe it's because I am not of that faith but I believe there is more too it.
Anyways when someone is talking about a religion what is it that is said that you find offensive? I will go first I hate hate hate when people use witch in place of *itch like they are the same thing when they are not. ETA i just figure if we can understand what hurts others maybe it will help. I don't mean to offend people and have been accused of it.

Re: What do you find offensive
Religious swearing; comments that indicate the person feels another person is inferior because of different religious beliefs

Re: What do you find offensive
Nothing, really. I am not religious and rarely take offense to anything anyway. If someone uses a slur or degrades someone because of their religion, more than anything else I am sad that the offender lives a life of ignorance and the close-mindedness.

Re: What do you find offensive
I try not to be offended. But if I do it is by those who post asking opinions and then inform those who feel the action is wrong they are discriminating. If you really don't want other people's honest opinion then don't ask for it.
I was answering the op question not speaking about the op. |

I don't take offense to much, really. Not even when I was religious. If someone makes a baseless or wholly ignorant assertion or statement, I gladly counter it. But I don't get in a huff or throw a conniption. Skeptics are oftentimes on the receiving end of a lot of grossly inaccurate and baseless statements. Lots of logical fallacies get thrown our way. Best thing to do is pick the argument or position apart rather than get upset and snap back. At least, that's my way of doing things.

I try to stay out of the drama threads, but I do get offended when opinions are asked but then if your opinon is not part of the majority, then you are wrong, bigoted, discriminatory, intolerant, closed-minded, etc.

Re: What do you find offensive
When people use their religious beliefs as an excuse to deny rights to others.
Otherwise, nothing really. I think people get their panties in a twist pretty easily. I didn't get offended by sarcastic non-Christians when I identified as Christian and I don't get offended by sarcastic non-Atheists now that I identify as an Atheist. I think that every belief system (of which I have held many) is subject to criticism. Though, I do think that there is a difference between a dry, critical comment and a mean-hearted comment. The latter, I would find offensive.

Re: What do you find offensive
Honestly, I am not easily offended.
I do find it annoying when people who are not of a particular faith attempt to characterize a faith. As a personal example, in religious threads, non-Catholics often put forth what they believe to be the beliefs of the Catholic Church. I wish that they wouldn't try to tell other people what I believe when they don't understand it. I would guess that others might feel the same about mischaracterizations of their own belief systems. I don't find it offensive, just irritating.
