Super sad. Had to say no to a 2 month old NICU discharge yesterday. On oxygen and G tube. Parent have previous terminations and expected short case to TPR. But we just can't handle therapy and medical appointments on a newbie with ds's therapy schedule and 5,
3, and 16 month olds. But it killed me. I really want one more kiddo.

Well I finally got over it and called one of the agencies here. He said we won't have a problem getting placements in the 0-2 range so we'll see. They work with 12 counties, so he keeps saying they have lots of placements. Don't they try to place them near their homes, though?

So...I made an appointment just to chat and get some of our questions answered. At the end of the call I verified which office it was at since they have a few and he said something like, oh no we can just go ahead and meet at your home that way we can talk and I can see your home, too. Ummm gulp! I wasn't ready for that!

Met with dfd's gal. Looks like she is staying put as long as bio dad'a attorney does not raise hell in court in September about the kids being in two homes.

Good thing because we are hopelessly in love with her already. It's going to be a long road waiting to see if forever is a possibility, but we'll just enjoy it while we wait.

Kristen-that would have killed me too! But your plate does seem full so I understand and probably would have done the same thing.

Itsajoi-i freak out about that kind of thing too but it's no big deal and it will be helpful to know exactly what you need to do before the inspection thats what happened with us and it was very helpful.

So... we set a date for our preMAPP home visit and I got the dates for the MAPP class!!!! I am soooo excited and nervous all at once! If it all goes as planned we will be a licensed foster home by... brace yourselves.... Thanksgiving!!!!!!

I honestly can't believe it!

On a sadder note... We got a call from our former foster ds's aunt yesterday (he is placed with his aunt and uncle, after being with us for a total of 3 years.. they are FABULOUS) his two full sibs were placed in care on the 18th when the brand new baby tested positive in the hospital. It is such a sad situation. She has 5 children total.. two half sibs to our little former foster ds who are older and placed with their bio-dad, and now the 2 younger full sibs who are turning 1 in Sept and just born. She has custody of NONE of them now. The aunt had asked if we could take them, and while I would be THRILLED to, they are through a different county and we are not yet licensed where we're living now. I still put a call in to their sw who said that as a last resort he would consider our home... Not likely which stinks because we would be able to offer visitation with their brother and keep in touch with family.

Anyways.... life is always interesting!

Got a call today for a 2yo and 1yo that we said yes to. They have 10 siblings, though, so whatever agency can find the least amount of homes to place them in, gets to have them. At this point, they told me that it looks like another agency might get them but its not a for sure thing. Getting placement calls is so nerve wrecking and exciting all at the same time.

Wowzaaa! But, our first placement was #8, so I guess it happens a lot. Sad.
