Can I Boil Alva Bamboo Inserts to Prep Them???

Can I boil my Alva bamboo inserts to prep them instead of washing a bunch of times? I've never prepped bamboo before...

I do. My process is: boil for 20 minutes then rinse. Repeat (usually 4 times) until the water is mostly clear and then throw in the wash with the diaper laundry and they are ready to go. When you boil them the water will be a dingy beige/tan, almost yellowish, color. That is the oils that you need to remove for them to be prepped. It's a little more work, but I think it's more effective. I just put them on to boil and walk away, then I'll come back and dump them in the sink and then come back a little later to rinse them and put them back in the pot to boil.

Re: Can I Boil Alva Bamboo Inserts to Prep Them???

I just washed mine a ton. It was probably at least 10-12 washes before they got not so slippery and much easier to use. I LOVE them now. I have 200 (for 2 kids ) but they hold so much! And my son has chronic bowel issues and the bamboo never holds a scent. My mf is NASTY barnyard rags after 1 wash.

I have an 8 month old boy, and I can use just one, but I have to fold it in half and place it all up front. If I don't, he leaks or I have to use 2.

......you should see what my posts look like BEFORE auto correct.

I never did anything special to them, and they worked fine.
I also use two. 1 would probably last a little while, but I still use 2.
