When it comes to euro type games, when I play with my husband, I enjoy playing games that were made just for 2 players. There are some multiplayer games that scale down ok, but I would recommend them in the right amount of people first. In this category, Agricola, Carcassone and Thebes come to mind.

Games that are good for husbands and wives (play only 2) are:

Jambo
Hive
Balloon Cup
Odin's Ravens
Lost Cities
Mr. Jack

Settlers of Catan is an excellent game that doesn't scale to 2 players. 3 or 4+ only.

This is pretty much us. I love Scrabble, and DH likes it, IF we can allow for a lot of rule breaking. Proper nouns, dirty words, words he makes up... Otherwise it almost always ends in a huff.
