Question how many chores?

Ok ladies heres my question!

I have 6 dc, 14yo ds, 12 yo dd, 8 yo dd, 6yo ds (learning disabilities), 3yo dd, 1yo dd. And they dont have any set chores. I do make them do things around the house, but it seems like they need a set of chores. The thing I have encountered with a set list of chores is if I ask them to do anything above the chore list they freak out! Let me know what you would get them to do on a weekly basis. They are responsable for there own room. I do all the laundry and put it up, I dont want to change that. But anything else is game!

Here is ours.

15 year old cleans the living room twice a day.
14 year old cleans the kitchen twice a day including dishes.

8,7 and 5 year olds clean school room and bedroom twice a day.

All kids help put shoes away, clean bathrooms, and gather and stray dishes.

Once a week we deep clean. All kids help. Wiping counters, mirrors, vacuuming etc.

We keep the house clean so every chore only takes a few minutes to complete.

Hubby does mopping and trash. I do showers and toilets. Teens clean their rooms once a week and do their own laundry.

I do laundry on sundays and fold immediatly and
Put the clothes away with all the kids help.

Re: how many chores?

8 yr old loads and empties dishwasher, cleans up toys, puts away his clothes, sets and sometimes clears the table

4 yr old's chore is to not burn the house down, for which he is sometimes mildly successful.

Thanks ladies! I have an idea now of what to get them to do. I have to get over feeling bad about needing help

Re: how many chores?

My (almost) 14 year-old:

- kitchen every night (dishes, wiping down counters, sweeping & empties trash)
- clean kids' bathroom once a week
- vaccum stairs once a week
- clean his room (as needed)
- do his own laundry including hanging up and putting away (as needed)
- cooking dinner occasionally. (We were trying to teach him to cook but this has kind of fallen to the wayside.)

The two 7 year-olds:
- removing their plates from the table, rinsing & picking up anything that they've dropped on table/floor
- cleaning their room
- making their beds (daily)
- bringing their dirty laundry down & helping put away clean laundry
- emptying the wastebaskets in all rooms (one time a week)
- if we're deep cleaning they usually help with stuff like wiping down banister or cleaning baseboards but they usually think that's "fun."

After reading some of the responses, I'm starting to think maybe the 7 year-olds need more chores!
