Re: At what age do you stop calling child a "baby"?

I think 1 ish but because mines the youngest I sometimes call her baby.... I still call my 7 yr old baby & I know my mom cals me baby too even though I'm having them myself. As she said," her kids will be considered babies to her no matter how old we are".

Probably never!! I will call my DS my baby forever. I use it as a term of endearment. He is a toddler and I call him that sometimes. I even use little boy. But he is my baby and always will be!

My family still calls me the baby and I'm 30. I'm the youngest of 4. I still call my 2 yo the baby, but now that we are having another I guess we need to stop.

I still refer to Ellie at almost 2.5 as "the baby" or "my baby" or "baby". Probably will until a new baby comes along or she tells me to stop!

My 2 year old is my baby. We all call him the baby. My relatives refer to both my 2 and 3 year old as "the babies". But referring to the general public, I wouldn't call a 2 year old who is walking and talking a baby.

I don't know. I still call all my kids "my babies" on occasion and haven't really put much thought into what is technically a baby vs. toddler. I suppose I think that once the child is walking they are a toddler- this does not always happen at 12 mo old.

Re: At what age do you stop calling child a "baby"?

I'm with the OP, 12 months. I'm always shocked when I hear people say that 3 YOs are still babies. Well...my three year old "baby" knows the alphabet and how to sort laundry and she helps me hang it on the line, and wash dishes, and counts, and uses the potty and talks in sentences. None of those things say "baby" to me. I will say my FIL calls all of his grandchildren "baby" and it makes me crazy! Even the ones that are 11 years old. He does it to my kids some too, but they don't like it, so I'm hoping he'll eventually break the habit.
