Finger food ideas!
My daughter is 7 months and generally eats what we eat, within reason. However, I'm running out of ideas of different types of finger foods for her.
Right now she gets squash, zucchini, and toast. The other foods - like meats and smaller foods like macaroni or mashed potatoes - I finger feed or spoon feed her myself. She likes to feed herself and tends to get upset if I don't let her. So any other food ideas would be appreciated! Thanks! |

Re: Finger food ideas!
The bear is nine months and gets a bunch of fruit for finger food... I let her feed herself noodles too. Anything that can be broken into small pieces she can have, although we haven't done meat yet. Meat puree kinda skeeves me out so I'm waiting until she has more than two bottom teeth.

I did almost everything. Steamed parsnips were a favorite. Bell peppers, pickles, waffles, banana with peel cut lengthwise, oranges with rind (they spit it out). Scrambled eggs, cheese....
I can't think of much that wouldn't count as finger food though. My child even manages to turn yogurt into a finger food if you're just a stickler for messes, you can freeze yogurt as dots on a cookie sheet and they'd be less messy for a few minutes anyways ![]() At 20months, she still rarely uses utensils and she gets everything we eat, so I guess I'm just used to it. To the other pp, if you're skeeved by meat, tuna is a good place to start or even ribs or something with a bone so they're gnawing and sucking, but not really expected to chew.

Just realized you said macaroni is too small and has to be fed by you?
Dry, but cooked, pasta is great finger food. I usually bought the colored veggie pasta because it was more visually appealing.

Re: Finger food ideas!
I'm in the same position and looking for idea's! My LO seems to refuse baby food puree and wants to eat finger foods only. I got a beaba and have kinda given up on the puree part, except applesauce blends he likes. However for steaming anything for him it's perfect.
So far he loves carrots, butternut squash huge hit(roasted in oven as we were having it too), apples, peaches(both steamed to make soft), pasta, ww bread. Cheese that's grated and yogurt. I'm still trying to figure out what is ok and not for him to eat - staying away from berries, citrus and obviously choking things. I got brocolli and cauliflower for us this week, a little nervous if it will make him too gassy though. He is 8 months next week.

Re: Finger food ideas!
baked tofu is a nice finger food- it soft enough to chew but firm enough to pick up, and there are so many ways to season it.

Sorry to hijack, but at what age did you all start giving finger foods? Dd is six months, is that too young to start? For the life of me, I cannot remember how old ds was when he started eating chunks of food...
Sent from my iPhone that has a mind of its own

We do cooked veggies such as broccoli and carrots. My son also loves whole wheat spaghetti and sauce and chinese noodles at the restaurants. |
