Turns out that before he was signed on to Blue's Clues, he was a total skater. He had a band (maybe a couple at different times?), long hair, etc. They basically hired him because the kids liked him, and the creepy PeeWee Herman look was the producers' idea, though he did go along with it.
He did a music video for Jack's Big Music Show a few years ago with really heavy electric guitar - it was a kids' song, but it was pretty good! I didn't even recognize him at first, but then I was like "HOLY COW - THAT'S STEVE!" I think the guy in the music video was the "real" Steve, which makes me think he's actually a real person, you know? Not necessarily the creepy guy that the BC producers created. He's actually got an indie album out there somewhere... I don't know as much about Joe.

I'm off to look up Steve now!

Well, we started watching Blues Clues back in the beginning so we'll probably always be Steve fans. It was when they switched to Joe that DD1 lost interest. Joe is OK, but he'll never live up to Steve.

I loved Steve, DD doesn't really care who it is. Though, we don't watch it very often.

I was like 10 when Blue's Clues came out but I saw it a lot thanks to my younger sister and younger cousin. I always liked Steve because my uncle actually looks just like him! He worked for a bookstore and they would have him dress up like him, too.

Joe is okay. I don't think he is as cool as Steve. Oh, and I LOVE Steve's music video. It is a song about Groundhogs.

Blue's Clues is probably one of my favorite shows out of all of the ones my kids watch.

Steve is wayyyy better than Joe. DH and I both seriously dislike Joe, lol. Our Littles don't really watch it anymore but we would change it when Joe came on.
