Re: Hospital/BirthingCenter/HomeBirth....What's in your bag?

I have to get my stuff packed too! I have my lists from last time as well.

Home Birth Basket & Extras:

Underpads
Peri bottle
Epsom Salts & healing herbs
A few extra things for midwives (nylon gloves, cord clamp, alcohol pads, gauze pads)
2 large garbage bags
2 large ziplocs for placenta
Old Towels (4-6) & several washcloths (that can be thrown away)
Maternity pads & underwear to put on immediately
Juice & straws
Warm socks & comfortable long t-shirt
Birth balls
Flashlight with batteries
Net in case of laboring in tub or waterbirth
Emergency phone numbers & Directions to house
Stuff for Baby
o Receiving blankets (2-3)
o Hat & booties/socks
o Undershirt
o Sleeper
o Diapers 2-3 (I have lots more of course, but these are for right away)
o Larger warm blanket
Bed made with old sheets & plastic liner
(make bed as usual with fitted & flat sheets, put plastic sheet over top and perhaps a large underpad, make bed again with old sheets on top of plastic liner. This way, you can strip off the top layer and have an already made bed underneath!)
Car seat in car & ready by 37 weeks
Car with gas, directions to hospital, change for parking

My Hospital Bag:

Health card & insurance card
Case for glasses if you wear them
Warm socks (2), slippers, & a comfortable long t-shirt
Pjs
Large underwear (3) & maternity pads
Nursing bra & breast pads
Change of clothes for going home
Toiletries (toothbrush, lip balm, lotion, deodorant, hair comb & elastics, etc.)
Juice boxes & snacks
Notepad & pen
List of phone numbers
Toiletries, change of clothes, & snacks for hubbie

Baby's Hospital Bag:

Diapers & wipes
Two hats
Three undershirts
Three sleepers
Two pairs of socks or booties
Sweater or warm suit
Receiving blankets (2) & warm blanket
Scratch mittens

Now to get packing! LOL

Re: Hospital/BirthingCenter/HomeBirth....What's in your bag?

UGH- after 2 homebirths, I'm not very excited to pack a bag for the birth center this time! Sigh.

All 3 kids will be coming, so a big bag of snacks and games and art supplies for them.

Me and baby:
pretty much what everyone has said. A friend gave me some nice eco-sposies which I will take, plus babyGanics wipes.

Oh, plus goldenseal powder for the cord stump, which my MW swears by. I need to get some more as I only have 2 capsules left! It did work great for ds#3.

We only plan to be in the birth cebter for 4 hours after the birth, so I don't need anything overly special.

I've been somewhat avoiding this task, but not sure why. Wouldn't want to make it too REAL or anything. lol
