I would say not a tough situation at all. You disclosed that it was a second, you sent it to her with all parts in tact, you never used it. She washed it and it came off. That is a chance you take with 2nds. Sucks, but it is what it is.

Re: What's the right thing to do

Thanks for the feedback! I realize I'm not at fault but I do feel bad that this happened. She is just starting out with cloth.

Re: What's the right thing to do

My washing machine ate a snap today. It happens. It sucks, but it happens. Its not your fault, whether she is new to cloth or been doing it for 10 years. I would be gentle but firm with her - this isn't your problem.

Since she is new to cloth, let her know new snaps might be able to be affixed? You didn't do anything wrong, and she probably didn't either. it's an unfortunate situation, but hopefully one that won't turn either of you off of FSOT.

Re: What's the right thing to do

I've had 3 of my swaddlebees, made by the same company as blueberrys, lose snaps. All were firsts bought new by me. I posted in diaper chatter about it an a few other mamas had this problem as well. Mostly with the monkey print. I think it's an issue with that brand of diapers not something that is your fault.

Re: What's the right thing to do

Any suggestions on how to respond to her. I'm horrible with this type of thing and don't want to come across as if I don't care.

ETA: I basically told her that the snap most likely came loose in the wash and that if she finds it, it could be reattached. We'll see what happens.

Mmm.. maybe I'm a pushover but I think seconds have to be functional. Missing snap isn't functional. BB should be fixing this and I think they would if you asked. Maybe have her send it to them for the repair which they will do under your name and reciept and when it's done you can ship it back to her. Shouldn't cost too much since it would just be the shell.

I did contact BB, but haven't heard back. If I'd kept this and a snap came off in the first wash I'd be pretty upset too!

I agree with this.

The only time I had an issue with a dipe they sent me a postage paid label to print out in my email. Then they just returned me a new diaper, insert and everything. Blueberry.
