Re: co-sleeping articles...

Um, it doesn't? Cosleeping isn't protective against SIDS. Breastfeeding is protective against SIDS and often correlates with cosleeping. If you're concern is SIDS, the best way to lower the risk is to room-share and breastfeed, but not bed-share. The AAP policy statement of SIDS (updated Oct 2011) has all the studies on SIDS you'd want to look at.

Re: co-sleeping articles...

yeah I don't think co-sleeping helps

my cousin died of SIDS (25 years ago)...he was breast fed and everything. He died while my grandma was watching him.

my aunt and uncle were in a SIDS support group and one of the parents was an anethesiologist and his son died of SIDS right in his arms.

SIDS is a neurological misque

Ditto PPs link...the only actual research I have ever read about co-sleeping possibly preventing SIDS has been the info from Dr. Sears.

Re: co-sleeping articles...

I think OP needs to define co-sleeping. It traditionally meant room-sharing. Now it is often used to mean anytime baby/adult are sleeping together, whether in a room, a bed, a chair, or a couch. I thought AAP had just updated their stance on room-sharing, that it does decrease SIDS.
