Implantation Bleeding? When to test?

Question isnt for me but a friend

She called today and said she is pretty sure she O'ed 7 days ago and had implantation bleeding today.....she wants to know how soon she can test. She isnt regular so she cant really wait til her period is late to test.

Any thoughts?

With some tests, you can test as early as a week before your period is due, but you have to be aware that you may get a false negative. With my first, I got a positive with First Response about 4 days before my period was due. Even the urine test that my doctor's office did the next day was negative but the blood test confirmed it...very low levels of hCG (wound up losing the baby for that reason). This time, I don't remember when my last period was but I had several negatives before it finally showed up. The OB I used with my first two pregnancies told me that you never get a false positive on a pregnancy test so as long as you won't be upset if you get a false negative, you've got nothing to lose by checking. It should show up 1-3 weeks after conception depending on the test and the mama.

I generally get my BFPs between 11-14 DPO - so maybe see if she wanted to wait another 4-8 days and then test. This time around I got mine at 12 dpo and if I remember right from all of my ttc junk most people get their BFP around then? Eh - in any case - see if she could hold out another week as I think that would put her further into the time where she would test positive. I could never hold out that long, though, so maybe have her pick a day somewhere in that 11-14 day range and say she won't test until then. Tell her good luck!
Oh wanted to add that the time I concieved this time around I had 70+ day cycles - so mine were in no way regular either. I did get my BFP pretty fast - so there shouldn't be any worries there! Just see if she can wait it out a few more days!

well if she is implanting today the doctors office blood test should pick it up today or tomorrow. A store test would be another probably 4 days atleast.

I'd say 4-5 dauys as well... you need a few days *after* the baby implants for enough HGC to build up

(though if I suspected implantation bleeding, I'd probably test daily )

With my third baby, I had implantation spotting at 10 DPO, and I tested (very) positive 7 days later.
