An acquaintance I went to school with posted a pic of her 3 year old son in a LBB with the shoulder belt behind him last month. I haven't spoken to her in years, but as a CPST, felt obligated to say SOMETHING.... so I sent her the following message:

"Hey, I just saw your picture post of your adorable son in the car. I wanted to encourage you to visit www.car-seat.org I am a CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) and your son's booster usage concerned me! I hope you are not offended in any way, I only wanted to inform and educate you if you are willing to listen. You can message me back on here if you want or I am "Shanree" on the website I just linked to you. I am not on there near as often as I am on here, but there are tons of certified professionals on there that can educate you on all things car seat related... and believe me, everyone needs to be educated frequently on car seat safety because it is ever changing and updating."

She replied then with a quick "Thanks, I'll look at it!"


Today .... She posted a new pic of her son in a 5pt harness seat and tagged me in it with the following caption:
"He was not happy about having to go back to this seat. But after Shanna sent me a link I rather him be mad and safe than happy and hurt or worse."


The chest chip placement was perfect in the pic and the straps looked good and snug!!!!! For every mad/defensive reply we get, there are some who do listen!!! There is hope! I am so happy for her!
