Thanks, y'all. Its comforting to know others have been faced with this and survived it.
It's been going okay. I'm only working 7 hour shifts to start. I completely soaked the front of my shirt after 5 hours the first day. I broke out the nursing pads after that. Dd seems to be doing fine. She has been asleep every day when I get home, sleeping peacefully. My boobs hurt, but I figure my supply will drop and that will stop soon. Ds isn't happy with me, but a 5.5 he kind of gets it. He understands that it is not forever. It sucks to be a responsible adult.

Re: Abruptly going back to work
Oh man, what a change! I'm glad you and the kiddos are adjusting well.
![]() It totally does suck to be a responsible adult. I don't know why I was ever in a hurry to want to grow up!

Re: Abruptly going back to work
I'm sorry that this has come up so suddenly. Glad though that C seems content and hopefully H will come around...

Re: Abruptly going back to work
unexpected changes are always horrible to deal with,
![]() maybe you can plan a few extra special things with the kids over the next few weeks that you really enjoy doing together (picnic at a favourite park, bicycle trip, going to the movies, whatever your family really likes) and then let everyone know when they are scheduled in, so you can all look forward to them together, and that anticipation of a special time can help carry you through the disappointment of being away?

The same thing happened to me. I went to an interview and they wanted me to start the very next day. I was totally unprepared. The baby was 9 months old. But is was ok. It worked out for the best.

It really hasn't gotten any easier here. It's been nearly a month now, and I think I hate it more every day. I am scheduled to work 12.5 hours tomorrow, with no break in between shifts. I hope they allow me to take an hour between shifts to come home and nurse.
Dd isn't handling this well. My period came back, so obviously she isn't able to nurse often enough. I am so, so ready for this to end. Hopefully soon. As soon as DH goes back to work I am done. He has been extended a verbal offer, but no written offer yet and no start date. If I were making more money, or felt that it were more worth my time, I would probably feel differently. I consistently have to stay 2 or 3 hours longer than I am scheduled, and some days I make less than minimum wage. I just want to cry, all the time.

I broke out the nursing pads after that.
