Worst information from a healthcare professional

Before I left the hospital one of the OBs who delivered my babies (we had two) stopped in to check on us and she told me it was completely impossible to BF twins. She told me to just go ahead and start giving them formula whenever I wanted and BFing when I wanted because it was not possible. Yeah, tell that to my kids who were EBF for 15 months.

When DS was 4 the ped tried to retract him. When I objected she told me that he needed to be retracting it and that she "had a 10 year old patient that had to be circumcised because he couldn't retract." Thankfully I knew enough about an intact penis to know DS was completely normal, and so was her poor 10 year old patient.

We switched doctors, primarily b/c she got really rude and condescending over the issue.

My DD's pedi told me that DD wasn't gaining enough weight and my milk "wasn't good enough". His exact words! I cried right then and there. Also, my kids are all small whether BF or formula fed!

Today at my daughters 1 year old check up the doctor told me

1. breastfed babies always have low iron levels... They checked and hers were just fine. LOL

2. not to nurse at night because it'll rot her teeth...

I really hope we move and i can find a new doctor.

Oh! I've got another one! DD's pedi (same as above) asked how she was sleeping at night. I told him she wasn't...lol! He told me to put her in a crib in her own room and to not come back until 8 in the morning! He said she will learn to self soothe that way! So, he wanted me to leave my baby in a room by herself for 10 hours!

At dd's 1 yr appt. take all her bottles and paci's away and put her to bed and if she cries so be it she'll eventually go to sleep oh and all cows milk

1) The above. I got this from the nurse practitioner at our former peds office. She said (actually, she yelled ) that it was essential to DS' development that I put him in a room by himself and do CIO for "as long as it took", meaning weeks or more, if necessary. Good thing I didn't follow that nonsense. Turns out, he has inherited the family tendency toward sleep disorders.

2) One of the peds in that same practice actually tried to give me the "vaccines are 100% safe" spiel. Sure, lady. That's why they hand out precautionary forms for each vaccine, and why VAERS exists - because nothing could possibly go wrong from a vaccine.

-retract at diaper changes (I knew better)

-that I "must" use formula to get rid of jaundice because breastmilk "makes it worse" (I never used a drop of formula and guess what.... My son's jaundice cleared up just fine!)

I had an obgyn tell me that if I gained too much weight I would "never ever lose it" I went in because of a 7 lb weight gain in 1 weeks (not related to overeating) and I had checked my blood pressure and it was high. She also told me I needed to cut out all meat, fat and carbs, and walk for 3-4 miles per day. When I started crying, she said she couldn't understand why I was so upset! (hello, hormones!) I never went back, and 2 days after an appt with my new dr I was in the hospital with preeclampsia!

I've never heard this nonsense about retracting at such a young age! Why?????? Painful much! Geeze!
