Re: kind of upset..

yeah, i wouldn't stop bfing either irene! you can always get ammo from kellymom if your m/w gives you grief (or just don't let her know any different).

i'm not much help on the vitamin thing - although i would think that this time of year the vit D thing wouldn't be a problem - maybe try breaking the vitamin up into small pieces.

oh and congrats!

Re: kind of upset..

y mom breastfed my brother the entire time she was pregnant and after she had my other brother she would tandum feed sometimes as well. They are only 11 months apart.

As for the vitamins I had a hard time with a lot of them but I finally found some I could take without getting ill. Try some different ones out, they are all not created equally (even try a children's chewable). As for the milk issue, I am lactose intolerent and don't drink it. I do try to eat cheese (be it string cheese, cottage cheese or cheese and crackers) and yogurt for extra vitamin. You can also find it in other foods (sorry no list in front of me at the moment), just do a google. Your body will tell you if you are lacking something. I was dead tired and realized that my iron was probably low. I had it checked and sure enough I needed an extra 325mg a day (it was reallly low).

Umm makes little sense to me. Has she read LLL new book by Hillary Floweres? I see NO reason why you can't tandem unless your milk decides to dry up on its own. She sounds misinformed.... I too would find a new MW

i don't want to upset anyone here but it makes sense to me to stop nursing while pregnant....your body has to keep up with itself which requires extra things during pregnancy, then you add nursing to that as well. you really are taking a toll on your body, not to mention that either the nursing or the baby is going to suffer fewer nutrients somewhere and you have no way of telling whether that be with the baby or the nursing. so to me it makes perfect sense. but that's just my opinion, like i said not trying to tick anyone off. i just don't feel the mw if trying to be mean or that she's misinformed, she's just trying to give her patient her best information that's all.

Re: kind of upset..

There are chewable pre-natals and Flintstone's are better than that much dairy

About the nursing thing...your baby is going to take what s/he needs. I throw up EVERY DAY at least twice the ENTIRE time I am pregnant 5 weeks to 9+ months. I lose weight when I am pregnant. My babies have both been close to 10lbs. There is no way that nursing takes enough away from you to endanger the bay, seriously -- NO WAY! Nursing cannot do it.
