Please pray for us!
When we moved to this house 16 months ago, my husband owned his own company that he ran from home, so we didn't really have a restriction on where we could live. We chose to live in the country on 5 acres, which we own outright. About 6 months after we moved here, his company went belly up. It took him another 2 months to find a job b/c we live in an area that doesn't have a lot of opportunity. We just didn't think we would be in that position. My husband thought he would be running his company for the rest of his life.
He is a machinist, working on mills, lathes, drill presses, etc. He is very good at what he does, but the only job he could find in this area that has anything to do with it is not really what he wants to do. On top of that, the owner is 3-4 years from retiring, and that is if something doesn't happen to him before that b/c honestly he isn't in very good health. DH has been putting up with it for 7 months, but he is miserable there, and it is really hard for him to get up and go to work every morning b/c he just isn't challenged. Last week he put together a really nice looking resume, and all week long I looked on Monster and Careerbuilder for job listings for him. I found him 40 positions for him to submit his resume to. These positions range from Phoenix, AZ, to Houston, TX, to Charlotte, NC. We don't care where we need to move to, so long as he has a position doing what he loves and it is further south of here b/c we hate snow. haha! On Sunday evening he sent them all his resume, not really expecting to hear back from anyone, at least for a while. By 8am the next morning he had 10 responses, two of which wanted him to come interview asap!! There is one position that he really wants to take if they offer it to him. It is in Houston, and it offers great pay and WONDERFUL benefits! He had a phone interview and they want him to come down asap for an in person interview, but the guy on the phone said that if DH is as talented as he claims to be, he seems like the perfect person for the job. It is a Fortune 500 company, and he is assured life time job security. I would also be able to get a great nanny position since our son is older now and I no longer need to find a position that will allow me to bring him along, and I have 16 years of experience as a nanny and working in childcare. At the moment I can't work b/c we are too far out in the middle of nowhere with only one working vehicle. Please pray that my husband's interview goes well, and if not that something works out for us and our move goes smoothly and safely. Also pray that we are able to find a great church once we get down there. We finally found the church we currently go to about 9 months after we moved here. We have been attending since December, and are just now getting really involved in it, so I'm REALLY sad to be leaving it. I'll miss all of the friends I have made. We really don't want to take that long finding another church, and we hope to find one soon after moving. It has been a huge rock for us this past few months. Thanks!!

Re: Please pray for us!
Well, now he is being sought after by 4 companies, two in Dallas, one in Houston, and one in Alabama half way between Birmingham and Atlanta (an hour each way). He had two phone interviews with the company in Alabama, and they were ready to hire him sight unseen, but he wants to go out there and see the area and the company. They were ready to fly him out the next day, but I don't want to move somewhere without seeing it first, so we are driving down there this weekend so he can interview on Monday. Then, the Monday following that we will be driving down to Houston so he can interview down there, then hit Dallas on our way back.
The hard part will be deciding which will be the better choice for our family. My husband is a very loyal employee and has no problem staying on for MANY years. The problem with the Alabama position, is that if for whatever reason it doesn't work out there, he doesn't have any other options there. He would also be working the overnight shift. I also wouldn't have the opportunity to work there, at least making what I could in Houston. Housing is MUCH more affordable there, though. Please continue to pray for us, that we can make the right decision or our family. Thanks!

Re: Please pray for us!
Thanks! We leave tomorrow for the interview in Alabama. We are hoping it goes well, b/c I would rather move there.

Re: Please pray for us!
He was offered the job in Alabama! He isn't even considering Houston anymore, but he is still hesitant to jump on this opportunity b/c he is worried. It is a great company, a great area, great schools for DS...I'm pretty sure he will take it, though.
Please, if you don't mind, continue to pray for us that he will have some peace with his decision. He is terrified to make this move. Thanks!!
