Question for Intact Families

Our son is intact. He's 26 months old. For the last week(?) or so, he's been waking up in the morning with pain on his boys parts (not sure if I can say that word here?). Sometimes there's a tiny bit of brown discharge in his diaper. DH read online that it might be the foreskin separating or something... which is normal? It doesn't bother him at all really during the day, and it doesn't keep him up at night. It's mostly right after he wakes up from a nap or from sleeping at night.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice?

Re: Question for Intact Families

We haven't dealt with that particular issue, but I've heard of it and it does sound like he could be starting to retract. It also makes sense that he would notice it after sleep because that's when boys tend to get erections (which aids in the natural process). Maybe let him soak in a baking soda bath to soothe discomfort from any raw patches where the skin may be newly separated.

It seems early for retraction, but that is what it sounds like. Try some Vaseline on his boy part it should help soothe it,

Re: Question for Intact Families

ya know, now that I think of it (I read this thread earlier) I do remember something like this happening with DS and then found out he could retract (quite to my surprise! lol) at 3 or so. I didn't do anything special or put anything on it, he was fine
