Hypnobirthing?

Anyone done it before? Is anyone planning on trying it out this this time? I'm intrigued by it...

Since I'm UPing I'd need the homestudy version too.

Well there is a course near me but it's $400!! So I think homestudy is the way to go for me too. I'm wondering if I can find the materials second hand somewhere.
It does recommend starting early as it is meant to help with your whole pregnancy journey and give you lots of time to practice. I think once I'm out of the first tri I will look into it.

Re: Hypnobirthing?

I took the classes when I was planning my first home birth.
It was extremely helpful. I did not take a refresher course before my last birth and I really noticed the difference in my labor and my ability to cope.

I WILL be taking a refresher course this time (my instructor offers 1-on-1 refreshers for past clients for only $100).

If you can swing the classes, I think they are worth every single penny.

Re: Hypnobirthing?

I would love to do the classes... But I'd need to find an instructor willing to fly down to Buenos Aires for free. Yeah right. I'll be in California when I'm around 20 weeks. Maybe I could get an instructor to do a 1 on 1 to get me jump started. Idk. We'll see.

Re: Hypnobirthing?

I'm currently reading the HypnoBabies book and my MW has the Hypnobirthing CDs that I'm going to use after I'm done witht he book (which is slightly different I guess, but the same premise). This will be my 3rd baby, 2nd homebirth, and I just feel like I'd like to try this this time (not that my previous HB was bad or anything, it was nice, but long).

Re: Hypnobirthing?

I did Hypnobabies (slightly different I think but you can look it up) It is hypnosis for childbirth and I really liked it for my first birth. I used it some for my second birth too. I loved listening to the cds during my pregnancy and I do believe it helped me relax and dilate faster. I was 9.5 when I got to the birth center but still smiling. But the pushing phase is always where I lose my focus for some reason and I just plain don't like that part. But I still plan on incorporating hypnobabies CD's for my pre birth and birth experiences.

Yes I have noticed that there is hypnobabies and Hypnobirthing. I think at my next mw appointment I will see if they have either of those for their lending library.

Re: Hypnobirthing?

Here's another thread on it from the pregnancy forum

I've noticed in general hypnobabies gets more positive reviews.
