From jar food to home made
If my son has already had some fruits and veggies in jar food do I have to treat the same fruits and veggies in home made like he's never had them before?

Re: From jar food to home made
I didn't.
The only difference for me was raspberries, strawberries, and kiwi. My pedi told me that in the jars they are less likely to be an allergen than fresh, from the field this morning berries. She said in jar was fine now at 9 months but wait until one yr with fresh.

Re: From jar food to home made
My son ate strawberries processed as a baby. He didn't have a reaction till he was 2 and ate them fresh(As in we picked them, washed them, and ate them). We were told that strawberries are more likely to cause a reaction when fresh. I would just be cautious of any food that a family member has allergies too.
But you shouldn't have to do the whole ... wait a 3 days/week between introducing new foods thing.

I introduced strawberries early before I knew there was an issue. She has loved them ever since. Maybe 9 months old? No, had to be earlier.. 8 months or so.
But my family has no food allergies.

Re: From jar food to home made
I started my son on homemade foods but then our fridge went out and I had to give him jarred food. He went right back to regular homemade food. It seemed like he didn't even notice the difference.

Re: From jar food to home made
I didn't do anything different. If Peanut didn't react to the jarred food, I just gave her the homemade version w/ no issues. We've done more real food than jarred food, though. We're kind of doing a mix of purees (homemade, some jar) and BLW. She gets lots of table foods and prefers things that she can actually hold in her hand.
