Re: Donor milk?

I wish i knew about donor milk or had a lactating friend when I was drying up (12 weeks PP)...my DS did great on formula so I wouldn't have used it unless it was going to go to 'waste' if I didn't. If a mama could donate to a baby in dire need, I'd rather it go to them of course.

Re: Donor milk?

I would use donor milk if I needed to. I wish I had known about donor milk when I first started out and needed to supplement DS1 for 6 weeks.

Since then, I have been blessed to be able to supply milk to a handful of different mamas over the years.

Re: Donor milk?

I have used my friend who has super boobs supplement while I was working full time for a month teaching over the summer without enough time to pump. I think it's awesome!

A group if my friends including myself donated milk to a friend for a couple of days when her DS was only a couple weeks old and she had to have surgery. It really blessed me to be able to help feed her sweet little baby. If I was in that position I would certainly want Breast Milk for my babies!!!! So I say if you have a resource use it, it is a blessing for those people that give just as it is a blessing for you to receive what they are offering!!!

I've used it. Then my fridge broke and about 1/2 of what I's received thawed completely out and was room temperature before I noticed it. I would do it again, but DS didn't really care for it.

Re: Donor milk?

I would definitely use donor milk, and I thought about donating but my supply evened out. I've also offered to nurse friend's babies, I'm sure they thought I was joking but I was totally serious. In a strange way it sort of bummed me out when they declined and made a bottle of formula, not that I thought they were wrong but more like, "oh, I would have enjoyed it though!"
