I had a buyer from Australia buy a $20 Leap frog app download card for $18 plus shipping (so more than it is worth with shipping). I assumed maybe they couldn't get them in Australia, and that is why they were willing to pay so much. However, the buyer just emailed me saying the card has already been redeemed. Here's the thing, the box was SEALED SHUT when i sent it. She already had left me positive feedback a week or two ago. I have been reading on ebay forums, that this happens all the time. International buyer buys gift card for at or above what it is worth, then claims it has already been redeemed, open a case, they win, get their money back, and the gift card. I am afraid this is happening to me. Dh suggested I ask them for a picture of the card with code visible and then call leap frog and ask them if they can tell me when it was redeemed, and if it was redeemed after they got it, then I will have proof. I have NO IDEA if Leap Frog will be able to tell me that information or not. Is there anything else I can do?

Oh no!! I read the exact same thing a few weeks back, makes me super nervous. But they said they buy the amount over and above, not sure if that included shipping or not.

How is her feedback?

her feedback is all positive...but you can only leave buyers positive, and she could very well do this to other people. Leave them positive, so they'll leave her positive (with a good comment) and then say there's nothing on it. GAH!

Man, and I always say I NEVER have issues with international buyers. I guess the key is no gift cards!

And there's a support email at the bottom for inquiries or issues.

Did you not save the code somewhere?

Did you buy it online anywhere? If so, there may be ways to get the code back.

The guy could easily send you a different code. However, you have to input the billing zip code used when purchased to check it if you bought online. So you'll know if it's your code or not if you did buy it online.

And nope, didn't write the code down b/c then I'd have to open the box, and the box was sealed, so didn't want to do that. I regret that now!

That's why I asked for a picture of the card with the code visible, that way he can't give me just a random code (but he could have more than 1 card and could take a pic of that one!).

ETA: and nothing I can do until he gives me the stinkin code number and/or pic!

P.S. Justice are big fat liars and did NOT send me my Jbucks! (probably only you know what I am talking about lol)

How long ago did you buy it, and where? Some gift cards when purchased, have a gift card activation receipt slip that is printed and given to you along with the original receipt. On it, it will sometimes say the card number. Any chance you still have it? Or know where you bought it and when and could ask the store if they can look up the purchase (if you paid with a card) and possibly see the gift card slip?

Wtf @ Justice?! That blows. Have you complained yet?

quick update, buyer never responded to my messages. Dh says they are backing down b/c I said I was going to call Leap Frog and see the date it was used. Or maybe they just haven't been back online. So, still waiting to see if they respond.

I would contact the company direct and ask if they have any suggestions or are able to offer you that information.

I would also contact ebay as I am sure this is not the first time such a complaint has happened and perhaps they can offer some direction.

Yeah, at this point there's nothing I can do until I have the code number, which I don't have and he/she has to give to me. If they are "for real" then they will get back to me-I mean, who wouldn't? I wouldn't want to be out that money. I said in my message that I will be happy to refund her after I contact LeapFrog if they cannot offer me any assistance.

It could also be a fluke I have gotton unactivated gift cards before and had to go back with the reciept to get a new one. So she may not be scamming.
