Then I'm making a plan of what needs cut, piling up the fabric and cutting on the first. I didn't realize that would be an UF object. OOPS. Thank you for correcting me or I wouldn't have known.

OHh, good thing we checked. Can I draw the squares then cut them that month and be OK? I only have to make 452 squares to do the blanket.

Oh MrsStripe... You don't have a rotary cutter? It will save you HOURS of time if you are going to be making blankets/quilts! I never knew how much I needed a cutter and a mat till my Dh bought it for me. (It was the best gift he ever gave me! It was WAY BETTER than jewelry )

At least you have time to wash and iron your fabric. Gather your buttons or notions. Have your bobbins pre-made.

I think cutting is a more complicated issue than just if you cut, it's a UFO... If you are making a quilt, you could buy squares, jelly rolls, or other sizes. It would not be "cheating" if a person bought a jelly roll to make a striped quilt. It would be "cheating" if they cut their own fabric into strips? Is it cheating if you get a hank of yarn and you cake it the month before?

I know the rules have to be generic and try to fit everyone. You can't have one person allowed to cut one thing and another not allowed.

I do not have a rotary cutter as I am a knitter by trade. I thought about getting one, but I think it is mostly unnecessary because I don't plan on making many more blankets. And, I like putting the square where I want it to center designs etc. My original goal for this blanket was to have it done by November, but I figure it is a way to rack up a lot of points for a stash game and get rid of fabric since we are rearranging the basement anyway. So I hope I can get it done in the month.

What do you need to do to host it? I probably shouldn't take it on though since school starts in the middle of the month so I'll probably be very busy at the end of the month and not be able to finish it.

Even if it's just for 1 quilt, go pick up the rular/rotery cutter/mat set at Joanns with a 40% off Q. You won't regret it. Once you figure in your time, if you were paying yourself by the hour, it will more than pay for itself. The best part is that you'll have it if you want to make another one
