I think with any book of the like, you take what you know will be helpful to your relationship. Not all things from the book seem to be great. I read the negative reviews on amazon and some complaints I could agree with but others I know DH and I have conversated about and were spot on to his feelings.
I liked the Five love languages. We took the quiz and studied based on our love languages.
Another book I liked was For Women Only by shaunti and Jeff felhahn. It was easy to read and not as long which I liked because I can't find a lot of reading time. I also got For men only for DH.

We just did for the men only/women only study. It helped me tremendously.

I just got this book from the library and love it so far! If my Mom gave me this advice I would be annoyed, but coming from Dr. Laura, I LOL and realize how true her advice is!

I've read it and 10 Stupid Things Couples Do to Mess Up their Relationships. I found both to be very no nonsense, straight to the point. Some points I agreed with wholeheartedly, others not quite as strongly, but it all made sense to me and actually matched up with His Needs Her Needs and Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus books I also read.
