My Mood:
need pin advice

i have never used pins but my friend swears by them. i have only used snappis but dont have any and new baby is coming in a couple weeks..she gave me several osocozy pins and said to just try them. my question is..is there a trick to keeping the prefold tight with a pin...the snappis pulled them together so nicely i feel like the pins would loosen them? and im afraid of poking baby! eek! but i really dont want to order snappis and wait for the dang things to be shipped...

Re: need pin advice

When you put it on you hold the prefold together really tight, like tighter than you think will be comfortable. Do this with your hand between the prefold and the baby. Push through at an angle until you feel the pressure, not the in itself, just the pressure of the pin. Then push it up through the top layer and fasten. It will loosen once you let go but since you pulled it tight it still won't be too loose. Also this way while you might poke yourself accidental, there is no way you will poke the baby.

Pin vertically and it will stay tighter. And practice, a lot.

Re: need pin advice

Can I add a question here?

How do you get the pin to go through all the layers?! I just can't seem to get it through my prefolds and I only can with my flats if there aren't a lot of layers in the wings. I store them in soap and I run through through my hair or across my forehead before attempting to pin to try to make them slide more easily but it's not working for me. I really want to learn to pin

Re: need pin advice

I think good pins make all the difference too. I prefer Dritz. I also found some good tutorials on youtube since I'm a visual learner and it's really helpful to see someone do it.
