Baby wash and solid lanolin

ETA: I don't use Lansinoh, it's too expensive. I use Now Solutions from the health food store. It's $8 for a 7 oz tub.

First I used Dr Bronners baby-mild and Lansinoh lanolin melted in a mug of hot water with a few drops Dr Bs for lanolizing. Then I bought Eucalan, which does seem to work better IMO, and I don't have to lanolize as frequently. I am about out of it now so going to try Imse Vimse wool shampoo and wool cure next!

What does lanolin do? How often do you use it?

Re: Wool wash?

We use wool wash bars for lanolizing upkeep...but for an initial lanolization, I use Crow Mountain Crafts lanolin (it comes in a tub), and just a touch of liquid wool wash or baby soap (both are designed not to strip oils).

So, pretty much all of our products now are Crow Mountain Crafts (both personal and business...), but when I first started out, we used lansinoh lanolin and baby wash and did fine

I am just excited, because CMC lanolin is cheaper than lansinoh lanolin, so that's why I never went back to lansinoh when I ran out

Re: Wool wash?

Sheepish Grins has a great wool wash bar with lanolin in it. They also have a solid lanolin which I love.. melts easily and doesn't chunk up.

Lanolin helps to coat the wool and makes it water resistant. Also somehow neutralizes the urine that gets on the wool. I air dry my Disana wool covers that I've used during the night and they are ready for night time use again WITHOUT any urine smell- still amazes me! I lanolize and wash with Eucalan once every two to three weeks, when the covers start to get dirty from dirt outside, or when they get stretched out from use. Some say wool is too much work, but I don't think so, especially since they do not retain the urine smell and only need to be washed so often. What can I say? I love my wool!

I also use Imse Vimse wool covers during the day for nap time or going out and air dry them if they get moist
