Advice for going back to work!

MY friend is going back to work after 12 weeks leave. She EBFs and asked for advice. I told her to go back midweek, figure how where/how pumping ahead of time. Bring framed photos for your desk/cube. Any other good advice?

Bring something that smells like baby. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to pump. Give baby 1 bottle a day ahead of time to get used to it.

Remember that it does get easier! Seriously, the first week is hard, but it does get easier.

Also, groccery shop on the weekends, and make a menu plan for the week so you don't have to think about food when you get home from work.

crockpot!!!! She'll want to spend every moment iwth her baby when she gets home and not be bothered with cooking or cleaningn or she'll be too exhausted. That's okay. Just plan ahead.

Good idea to cook big meals on the weekends that can easily be frozen and defrosted for midweek meals as well. Possibly stock the freezer up the week before she goes back as well.

The first few days are the worst but it does get easier! Best advice I can give is to plan ahead and be as organized as possible. Make sure she has predetermined where she can pump, plan her pumping schedule and put it in her daily schedule or calendar, figure out how and where she will store the pumped milk, where there is a sink to clean her pump parts etc. When I first went back, I asked my girls' care providers to take pictures of them during the day and email them to me. I agree about planning ahead for meals. Have it figured out in advance and keep it simple at first.

Re: Advice for going back to work!

This probably doesn't seem like a big thing, but wake up 20 minutes earlier than you need to. I know everyone wants a little more sleep, but with me I am always forgetting something. Its worth the small loss of sleep to be relaxed and not rushing when getting myself and baby ready for the day. Plus once we're all ready we can have snuggle time while she's awake which I love. Especially since in the evening she's often ready for bed when I get home from work. At least I know I got 20 sweet minutes with her in the morning.

Great ideas! I am dreading the moment when I have to cross this bridge. I'm new here, and a first-time mom. I'm glad I found this place
