Diaper Swappers

Hi mamas,

I'm trying to figure out how to expand a very small stash to accommodate 2 under 2. My DD will be about 20 months when our newborn arrives.

I have 2 dozen prefolds in small size, and 2 Imse Vimse wool covers in every size. I have a dozen diapers that fit my DD now (I think they are "infant" size) at 14 months.

I had a lot of pockets that just didn't make it to her (she's baby #5) and my parents gifted us diaper service which we used with their prefolds until we moved about a month ago. We used disposables during the move but DH and were both tired of them, so I'm washing every day right now using the dozen prefolds.

I'd like to do pockets or AI2's, preferably a one size I can use for DD and our new LO, but I've never actually had two in cloth so I'm not sure how many I need.

DD is EC'd but we've been derailed with the move and I'd rather just assume a full stash for 2, washing every 2-3 days.

Do you have a few extra to keep in the diaper bag, or do you pack from the home stash before going out every time? With the diaper service I had enough dipes to keep the diaper bag stocked at all times, and I'm trying to decide if I want that or not. How many do you take with you for two, if gone for 3-4 hours?

I have a 21 month old and a 2month old. I would say 36 if you plan to wash every other day.

I have a 19 mo and a 2 mo. I use sized pfs, and have 2 doz in each size. I wash every other day, could prob go 3 days in a pinch. In my diaper bag I usually have 2 dipes for my 19 mo and 3-4 dipes for my baby. I leave them in there all the time. HTH! Congrats on the newbie! Having two in diapers isn't really that bad. Just takes a little more laundry.

How many covers of each size do you have? Do you keep an extra cover in the diaper bag?

I have about 40 pockets for 2 kids plus night time fitteds and a few extra for rashy times one baby has ezcema and goes coverless sometimes. I have a dozen prefolds in each babies size im case I runshort.

I have two in cloth. Right now I have an all AI2 and pocket and AIO stash.. it looks like this:

12 flip covers with 18 stay dry inserts and 24 BG 4.0 for the Baby.
8 flip covers with 15 prefolds and 18 BG Freetimes for the toddler. I also have a few random pockets and extra infant size prefolds that I'm not using.

I keep 2 infant prefolds, a snappi, a flip, 4 4.0 and 4 freetimes in my diaperbag. Plus 1 diaper for each kid in my purse. Plus I keep 2 of the toddlers diapers in a bag we use just for church.

I never run out of diapers. I wash on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays.

I have a separate small stash for each, as they both have very different shapes. I originally started with the same for both (pfs and thirsties duos, and BG pockets) but the thirsties left red marks on DS, DD wouldn't hold still for pfs, and she started getting leaks from the BGs due to fit (she is so skinny that they would bunch between her legs and then the insert would bunch and shift).

So now I have:
DS: 5 flips and 12 imagine large pfs
10-12 BG pockets (honestly I don't remember how many and never think to count when they're all clean)

5 grovia shells and 8 soakers (I need a few more soakers and maybe one more shell)
1 flip cover with 3 flip organics and 4 thirsties hemp prefolds for naps (I need 1-2 more covers for naps, just to have a backup for when poops happen before laundry day)

I wash every 2ish days. I never run out of DS's dipes but find myself improvising or stealing from DS's stash when I run out of DD's dipes.
